EDMONTON — Alberta identified 296 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, following the completion of 6,800 tests.

There are currently 5,831 active infections in the province as of Thursday afternoon.

Alberta also saw a decrease in hospitalization numbers, with 411 people currently in hospital, and 120 in the ICU.

An additional five deaths were reported on Thursday.

There were also an additional 305 variant cases identified, some of which date back historically.

As for vaccinations, the province administered more than 44,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine over the last day.

Nearly 2.9 million doses have been administered to date.
