This summer, datenight embarked on their inaugural Awards, recognizing the best of the best in our city (and cities across Canada). datenight awards was created to provide our community a thoughtful guide of the best date ideas based on your input and our Committee’s expertise.
Over the summer, date night lovers of all kinds could submit their nominations for their favourite spots around the city in six chosen categories including Dinner Date, Brunch Date, Coffee Date, Cocktail Date, Brewery Date, and Dessert Date.
Can we get a drum roll? Because we have the first official list of winners for the top dessert spots for dates in Calgary of 2024. Keep reading to see your picks!

Alforno offers freshly baked, hand-made pastries as well as brunch, lunch, and dinner. With a stylish place for a dine-in or a coffee date you are bound to have a nice treat. This place is so good it was even featured on our top brunch, and top coffee spots in Calgary.

Yann Haute Patisserie
If a chef from France who has his own patisserie isn’t a green flag then I don’t know what is. Baking up some french classics like macarons, brioche, and of course croissants this is a great place to get some treats for any occasion. They even have a mascot named Marcel le macaron who is obviously a macron who sometimes greets guests. Set up in a actual home this is a great place to have a cute date.

Village Ice Cream
This is a dessert article, so there will be more than one ice cream spot. Opened up in 2012 this ice cream spot has now expanded and now has 5 different locations in Calgary! Sourcing the best ingredients, and creating new seasonal flavours each month, there will be a flavour you will become obsessed with. If you’re looking to laugh or cry while eating their ice cream you can go to their ‘meet the dogs of the village’ tab on their site, celebrating and sharing stories of dogs in their lives.

Ok so maybe you like a meal and then a your dessert. Try D Spot Dessert Cafe, they offer a full menu of food but everyone is there for their fuller menu of desserts. Milkshakes, crepes, funnel cakes, oh my! It’s definitely s great spot to go with friends and share all the different dessert options (unless you don’t want to share.

The new kid on the ice cream block Milk Ice Cream Club keeps it real with their ice cream ingredients, and collaborating with local business’s. They have unique flavours that are adventurous and nostalgic, like ube, pandan, and dunkaroos!

Take your tastebuds to Italy when you try Noto’s gelato. Handcrafted by artisans in Calgary, they really do their best in keeping it authentic to how they would make gelato in Italy. Through this process they have created a rich, creamy, and as well silky gelato. Extra bonus points if you speak Italian and want to impress your date.
